V8 Vantage decided to throw a Christmas tree of warning lights on the way to work today
Stuck in traffic on the Corniche this morning and out of absolutely nowhere my 2009 V8 Vantage lit up like a carnival with the traction control fault the ABS fault and the check engine light all deciding to throw a party on my dashboard at the exact same moment and of course the car went into that annoying limp mode where it feels like you’re driving a four cylinder Camry with a misfire. I’ve had the car for about a year now and I knew what I was signing up for with the electrical gremlins that these Gaydon era cars are famous for but it still doesn’t make the sinking feeling in your stomach any easier when it actually happens on a Monday morning. The dealer is obviously the safe bet but I’ve heard some horror stories from other owners about how they just start swapping modules at random until the problem goes away and you end up with a bill that looks like a phone number. I’m really hoping to find a proper Aston Martin Repair Center Abu Dhabi that actually knows how to trace a CAN bus fault back to the actual source whether it’s a dodgy wheel speed sensor connector or a battery that’s just slightly below voltage causing all sorts of phantom codes because the system is so sensitive. Anyone else had the joy of chasing electrical faults on one of these and found a shop in Mussafah that has the proper dealer level diagnostics but charges realistic labor rates and doesn’t treat the car like it’s made of glass.
